Teacher Testimonial:

Teacher Testimonial Stephen Whyte

“For the past nine years I have had the privilege of teaching middle school students at the Jerry School in Xining, Qinghai, Northwest China.  My years here have been filled with joy and fulfillment as I have come to love the city, the students and the colleagues with whom I have the joy to work.  The kindness and generosity of the administrative staff, the enthusiasm of the students to learn English, and the rewards of positive feedback from staff and students have been most encouraging.

I came Xining after retirement from my teaching responsibilities in Canada and have found the climate, the people, the quality of lifestyle and the experience of working in another culture extremely satisfying and rewarding.  My wife and I have no regrets of making the decision to come to this lovely city and work with the young people at the school.  I would recommend this role to anyone, young or older, who has a desire to influence and impact young lives, some of whom will be future leaders in this country.  The Jerry School has been a wonderful place to work.” -Stephen Whyte

Why Northwest ChinaScreen Shot 2019-06-26 at 5.22.54 PM

Though the larger cities in eastern China have a surplus of
foreign teachers to accommodate the millions of young English learners, the smaller cities — especially those found in NW China — are lacking experienced foreign teachers. Very few foreigners are willing to work in NW China, because they believe it’s too isolated from the rest of the world, too cold and dreary, or too underdeveloped.
